Case Study - Liquid Fuel Boilers

When a small electronic device became the achilles heel in the ability of a leading manufacturer and supplier of Liquid Fuel Boilers to maintain and supply products to their customers within the UK and Europe they turned to European Electronics Solutions for support.

This clients supply issues arose when their single source supplier of LFB PCB controllers failed to maintain supply and the company discovered that not only did this supplier control the supply of the Control Panel sub assembly unit but they also owned the IP for the design. Previous requests from the company for a redesign of the control Panel had failed to elicit any interest from the supplier so in an effort not to thwart supply which was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and would ultimately impact on LFB outputs the company accepted the impending risks and operational limitations of the device.

Working with EES’s design team not only enabled them to reverse engineer the design of the original controller but also offered them to opportunity to enhance the capabilities of the control panel and add a lot more functionality. In addition the client retained full control of the product IP and had certainty over the supply base which had become increasingly challenging both in terms of cost and predictability.
